Anderson Building & Construction Ltd (ABC) was established as a general construction company.
Its very first project consisted of the refurbishment of Brentham House and Brentham Place, a B listed building based in Lerwick, Shetland.
The project consisted of the creation of a small boutique hotel, a hairdresser, a bar/restaurant/club and 7 apartments. The refurbishment was extensive and included repointing, lead roofing, the installation of new rain goods and all new plumbing, electrics and all specialised lighting in the bar/restaurant/club.
The interiors were totally remodelled to a modern day standard with built in kitchens and stylish bathrooms installed in the apartments.
Taking account of the sensitivity of the B listed building we reinstated period features such as stained glass windows, doors, cornices and fireplaces.
The company was responsible for all aspects of interior design on this project. ABC Ltd has continued to demonstrate its expertise in specialised building projects.

The Relocation of Gairloch War Memorial.
Brentham House
Refurbishment of Brentham House/Place (B Listed Building).
Consisting of 7 Apartments, a Hairdresser, Hotel, Nightclub, Bar and Restaurant.
John O’Groats House Hotel
John O’Groats House Hotel Development. Groundworks and installation of all electrical, gas drainage and water utilities to service the new 23 unit luxury development.
Landscaping of the whole development, including privacy bunds. Construction of all road infrastructure, underground LPG tank facilities and car parking areas.
Constructed 23 No. foundations for the luxury units. Constructed the concrete substructure and installed all drainage and steelwork pockets for the significant Hotel Apartment extension.
Lochaline
Lochaline Shore Facility, Morvern, Highlands. Construct a timber framed building to service the new marina, with office, kitchen, laundry and extensive toilets and showers. All with underfloor heating supplied from air source heat pump system.
Ackergill Tower
Ackergill Tower, Summer Palace – Wick. Transformed the old Loose Boxes facility and open courtyard into a 5 Star function facility of 200m2, including toilets and bar facilities.
Works included significant drainage and tanking of the new facility, high quality carpentry and masonry aspects.
Electrical, plumbing, heating modification and installation, bespoke decoration including feature walls and installation of a high quality sound system.
Completed in 12 weeks.
John O’Groats Hotel
John O’Groats – Caithness. Refurbishment and extension to form Natural Retreats Café and outfitters shop at Last House in Scotland.
Extensive works to facilitate utilities to the new building layout, civils, builderworks, roofwork, structural steelwork, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, decoration.

Creag Meagaidh NNR. New disabled toilet & Interpretive Centre.
Skiach Bridge
Skiach Bridge, Torrachilty Forrest, Strathpeffer. Construct approach and two reinforced concrete abutments together placing 4 no. 16m span steel bridge beams and cross bracing.
Lossiemouth Recycling Centre
Lossiemouth Recycling Facility, Morayshire. Builderworks, 1st & 2nd Fix joinery, mechanical & electrical works to facilitate the construction of a new recycling production line within an existing industrial facility.
SGL Carbon Fibers Ltd
SGL Carbon Fibers Ltd, Muir of Ord Industrial Estate, Ross-shire. Various demolition, civils and building construction projects including, significant external drainage works, concrete works, builderworks and joinery, electrical and decoration to construct various refurbishment of the production facilities, while in operation.
Holm Primary School
Holm Primary School, Inverness, Highlands. Internal alterations and refurbishment to various school units, including utilities, civils, builderworks, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, decoration and floorcoverings. Completed within the school holiday period.
